The use of metallic colors is a huge trend right now in carpet, paint, fabrics, decor, trimmings, and more. Celebrities and runway models started flaunting more metallic colors this past year and it looks as though they have inspired designers everywhere. We have seen fashionistas using metallic as an added “pop” to a wardrobe. And we liked ELLE Canada’s Anne Donahue’s take on metallics: “Gold and silver pieces create richness and playful elegance while putting a fresh spin on more timeless looks.” According to an article this year by Content Editor at online fashion boutique www.glam-net.com Christine Babington Smith, metallic is another “trend from 2011 that will continue into fall/winter 2012.” She was right, and it looks as though metallic will have a long shelf life among fashion designers and interior designers.
Inviting this trend into our design department and mill, Bloomsburg Carpet will have an entirely NEW line that will incorporate different metallic yarns. Bloomsburg will show this new line at the SURFACES trade show, January 29 – 31, 2012 in Las Vegas. Click here to see the list of other exhibitors attending the SURFACES trade show this January.
So how are interior designers using metallic colors? Take a look at some of the rooms below to see how metallic carpets, fabrics and decor add elements of opulence or like Anne Donahue mentioned “playful elegance.” We like how these metallic elements are not overly done – they add warmth and help lift color and patterns of others pieces in the room.
