Slayman Cinema and CANTARA Design has just been awarded CEDIA’S highest award for Home Theater design and engineering excellence: Best Overall Home Theater 2012! CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) is similar to AIA or ASID for architects and designers, and includes member companies across the world. Slayman’s “Lady Luck”, a 45 Seat Private Cinema was chosen as Theater of the Year, with competitors from across the world, including New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, and even Cyprus, making this a truly international award, and effectively crowning the project as the best home theater in the world for 2012.
This 3,500 square-foot in-home cinema is the ultimate escape from reality. This client’s taste leaned toward timeless Haute Couture with glamorous reminders of the golden age of cinema. They wanted to be amazed by the room’s appearance, and blown away by the viewing and listening experience.
“Designing these theaters is not about selecting pretty fabrics and materials. It takes complex understanding of all the technical and mechanical systems along with providing the proper construction documents that integrate everything together. Receiving this award was perfect timing, as I have just launched my new website www.slaymancinemadesign.com. For this theater we did a custom color chocolate velvet carpet, 100% wool. It was a truly amazing experience creating Lady Luck, a theater reminiscent of the golden age of cinema, when going to the movies was elegant and glamorous! Thank you to everyone that made this room and the award possible!” – Lisa Slayman
