After 18 years of service in the product development department at Bloomsburg Carpet, Jody Stamatedes is still as enthusiastic about her job as ever. She loves that she is able to work on a different project each day, many with top architects and designers in the carpet industry.
As our product developer, Jody is responsible for ordering yarn to produce custom carpet strike-offs, writing up contract sheets so the designs can come to life in carpet strike-offs, and running the kibby machine to produce custom Axminster or Wilton carpet strike-offs.
Not sure what a strike-off is? That’s OK! It is actually the small portion of a large design which samples are modeled after. Our samples are typically 6 ¾” x 1 yd in size, and we send out as many as 1,000 per month – 200 of which are custom designs!
Of the many lines Jody has produced strike-offs for, her favorite are Tigris, Caravan, and Emir. These designs are single heddle 100% wool heather velvets, a construction Bloomsburg Carpet began developing during its inception 35 years ago that is still very current in the market place today.
Currently, Jody is gearing up to introduce the new TUVA Looms designs Metal Edge and Structure to the marketplace. She is excited to see them coming to life as 12’ broadloom carpet after more than a year and a half of perfecting the color and product construction.
You can preview the rest of upcoming designs including Structure and more on the Bloomsburg Carpet website!
